Biochemical Evaluation of Radiotracers in vitro

Selection of lead candidates for translation requires a detailed study of their biochemical behaviour in vitro. Cellular-based assays are performed in-house at UZH and include characterisation of drug specificity, affinity and stability, as well as cytotoxic profiling using plate-based methods, and intracellular localisation studies using confocal fluorescence microscopy. The emphasis of our in vitro program lies in two areas: i) screening drugs to select the most appropriate candidates for further studies, and ii) understanding the biochemical mechanisms that control target protein expression, thereby underscoring the potential clinical scope and application of our new radiopharmaceuticals.
