Biography

Cristina Nevado was born 01.03.1977 in Madrid (Spain). In 2000 she graduated in Chemistry at the Autónoma University of Madrid (UAM) where she completed her Diploma Thesis in Organometallic Chemistry in March 2003 under the supervision of Prof. Antonio M. Echavarren including a complementary research period at the Tokyo University with Prof. Eiichi Nakamura.
In October 2004 she received her doctoral degree summa cum laude working with Prof. Echavarren in novel cyclizations of 1,6-Enynes catalyzed by platinum and gold complexes.
Shortly after she joined the group of Prof. Alois Fürstner as a Post-Doc at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung in Mülheim an der Ruhr (Germany). The main focus of her research coped with the first total synthesis of Iejimalide B, a marine macrolide with a daunting architecture and a promising cytotoxic profile. Simultaneously, she also held a position as Assistant Teacher at the Autónoma University of Madrid.
During these years she has been granted different fellowships and awards: Spanish Ministry of Education and Science Undergraduate Fellow (Sept.1999-June 2000), Comunidad Autónoma de Madrid Fellowship for Doctoral Studies (Sept. 2000-Oct. 2004), Eli&Lilly Doctorate Award (Nov. 2003), Doctoral Thesis Extraordinary Award from the UAM (Oct. 2004), Alexander von Humboldt Post-Doctoral Fellowship (March 2005-May 2007).
Since May 2007, Cristina Nevado is Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry at the OCI in the University of Zurich, Switzerland.
