I was born on november 10th, 1968 in Wettingen, Switzerland. After the
basic educations I began my studies in chemistry in 1989 at the University
of Zürich. I finished my studies with my diploma thesis "Synthesis of Segments of the antibiotic Trichovirin I 1B" in June 1996. Since July 1996 I am working on my PhD thesis.
The aim of my scientific work is the total synthesis of the seven representatives of the peptaibol Trichovirin I. These seven chains differs in the kind of amino acids in the positions 1, 2, 6 and 10. The base of the synthesis is the use of the azirine/oxazolone method, practiced in our research group. A speciality of the Trichovirin Chains is the sequence of Aib-Pro, which appears three times in each representative. Therefore we synthesized a new azirine as an Aib-Pro-synthone.
