Givaudan Karrer Lecture 2025
The Department of Chemistry of the University of Zurich is pleased to announce the Givaudan-Karrer Lectures 2025 by
Prof. Dr. Sarah Reisman
Prof. Dr. Sarah Reisman, California Institute of Technology, USA
Lecture Topics
The overarching goal of Sarah’s research program is to discover, develop, and study new chemical reactions within the context of natural product total synthesis. The complex architectures of natural products, their reactive functional groups, and issues of stereochemistry provide a fertile setting for reaction development while exerting strict demands for selectivity and efficiency.
Endeavors in natural product synthesis drive advances in the state-of-the-art in organic chemistry, and in so doing, impact a variety of research areas that integrate synthetic tools, from catalysis and materials science to biology.
Lectures:
- Designing Syntheses, Lessons from the Past and Present
- Designing Syntheses, Strategic C–H oxidation
- Designing Syntheses, Embracing Dissonant Bond Paths
- Development and Application of Ni-Catalyzed Reductive Coupling Reactions
