Research project

I study small ribozymes found in bacteriophages to uncover both their biological roles and the chemistry behind how they function. By combining classic biochemical approaches with cutting-edge tools—such as radioactive labeling with P-32 and single-molecule FRET – I aim to reveal how these tiny catalytic RNAs shape phage biology and broaden our understanding of RNA-based catalysis.

Behind the Lab Coat: My Inspirations and Passions

Year you joined the Sigel Lab: 2025

Favorite molecule: Theobromine

Scientist hero: Rosalind Franklin

Favorite restaurant, coffee shop, or place in Zurich: Letten in summer, any Cafe in winter

If I could visit anywhere, I would go to: Bhutan

Class or teacher that changed my life/inspired me: High school biology teacher

Outside of the lab, I enjoy hiking on the weekendsswimming in the Limmat, and reading a good book.
